The Nasarawa State Police Command has recovered 1,473 illegally acquired security materials from banned ethnic vigilante groups and other organisations in the state.Among the items recovered by the police are 267 sets of uniforms, 102 black belts, and 189 infantry lanyards, all recieved from the Kungiyar Zaman Lafiya Nomad vigilante group.This operation marks an important step in curbing illicit activities and maintaining peace and security in Nasarawa State.
According to a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday and signed by the state police spokesperson, DSP Rahman Nansel, other items include five hundred and sixty-four (564) black berets, three hundred and thirty-nine (339) pieces of black/ ten (10) white lanyards, and two (2) identification cards were also received from the above mentioned vigilante group.Nansel said the recovery followed compliance with Executive Order No.1 2024 proscribing ethnic vigilante groups and other similar organisations by the Nasarawa state government.Nansel said the items recovered were in line with the directive proscribing the activities and operations of ethnic vigilante groups in the state.
The statement reads in part, “The Commissioner wishes to inform the general public that the Police Command has received two hundred and sixty-seven (267) pears of uniforms, one hundred and two (102) pieces of black belts, and one hundred and eighty-nine (189) pieces of infantry lanyards from Kungiyar Zaman Lafiya Nomad vigilante group.”“The commissioner hereby calls on those who are yet to comply with the Executive Order to do so on or before the expiration of the two-week ultimatum; as the Command shall ensure that the ban is enforced to the latter.”.
